Hospice of Charleston Hospice Aide Receives Recognition

Charleston, SC --- Hospice of Charleston recognized Tonia Hickman, Hospice Aide for 5 years of outstanding employment. Marilyn L. Porter, Manager of Clinical Practice presented the award to Hickman with colleagues present.

While every employee that makes up the hospice team brings value to enhance the hospice experience for patients and families, Hospice Aides are the direct caregivers of patients; they spend far greater periods of time in the home than any other hospice team member. Hickman and other Hospice Aides provide the most intimate physical care, gaining trust and openness between the hospice team and the patient and family.

According to Rosina Feagin, Hospice of Charleston Branch Director, "it's a great achievement when a healthcare organization, such as Hospice of Charleston can celebrate staff retention and exceptional years of service."

Hospice of Charleston provides compassionate services to terminally ill patients and their families residing in Berkeley, Dorchester, and Charleston Counties.
